We drove down and all good until driving off the ferry the bumps seemed to cause my exhaust pipe to snap in two. Great! Just out of RAC coverage by 20 miles of the channel.
A quick inspection and copious amounts of gaffer tape and we made our way steadily south checking into a F1 in the early hours and the next day we made it to Cuisiniere.
Jonny Dawes was there - i don't think he was that impressed with out fumblings on pretty much everything. We got beatings on most things!
Next day we headed to Cuvier in search of peace.
We had a look at the main area thinking about getting stuck into some of the classics that are normally over populated at Easter. But it was just the same carnival as any other time of the year, a man was being filmed doing somersaults with a big spear about sums it up so we headed over to rempart to once again escape the crowds.
We 'warmed' up on a 6b called XXX which turned into a humbling introduction and then headed up to the top of salathe wall where Jim had a project from last time. I was convinced to try salathe wall a 7a+ i could barely pull on last time and was surprised to arrive at the top out hopping a heel on - on my first go - sadly it was green and slimey on top and despite being pretty much over i peeled back and took the big fall. Next go a bit more precision in my heel and it was dispatched. the softest 7a+ in the world i reckon. It involved a jump start and then campusy moves on crimps, very straight forward.
Jim's problem was damp and so after a few futile attempts we headed over to try Cyclops and Angleterre. I managed to get my hands over the top of cyclops on several occasions but no cigar and set about trying angleterre but by this point it was pitch black, I'm pretty sure i could do it but couldn't see a thing even with the head torch so sacked it.
We decided to head to Apremont the next day and we once again managed to get beatings on everything we filmed ourselves on some 6b's and then failed to get up some rock hard 7a's.
Isatis was the next stop, I tried le coquelle and jim the assis but got no where fast so then headed up to ah plus facile (APF) that jim had worked before, i wasn't that impressed but eventually got my shoes on. I started to make progress. The light start to fade and i made some progress, but not enough so headed back to the gite in the knowledge that the weather was poor for the next day.
Suffice to say next day was rain but about 2pm we went for a look at APF, it was dry and i manged to get a couple of goes again before it rained, Doh!
Good trip, not many ticks, but i felt stronger than last time.
The car some how made it home and ready to fight again.
