Not sure why i left home with such phat conditions close to homeSo today after a lot of phonecalls, making plans and remaking plans we headed out to Cliviger Gorge on the Lancashire -Yorkshire border. The good old Mauritius ferried us out there leaving Leeds about 1:30, by the time we'd battled through Hebden Bridge it was about 3. Thankfully we'd chosen a route with a mere 10 minute walk in albeit quite a steep one.

True roadsideish ice?I was very impressed with the quality of the ice, I led the right hand side which would be expected on about scottish 3 so WI2, was very nice climbing, bomber placements, i even got 2 ice screws in that were pretty good... IN LANCASHIRE!!!! Jenny and Dom followed after i'd thrown down my Quarks for Jenny to use... i think she was glad of this as she discovered later.
Getting pretty dark we scurried down and whilst i was having visions of pub o'clock Dom quite rightly was keen to have a lead himself, he led the left hand side of the icefall, jen seconded using the ancient Aliens and proceeded to bash the crap out of her knuckles (not nipples.. Dom) and this was even after the very kind Andy had sharpened them for me. :o) Cheers Andy! I followed deciding to go Leashless (ooh er missis!) And once again i was impressed how free it made you feel. One day i'll grow the balls to lead a few things leashless... Maybe tomorrow? Dom is supposed to be picking me up early doors for some Dales action - Un-charted territory so we shall see what happens. I have to be back in Leeds for the afternoon otherwise I will fail to do my Xmas shopping.
