Return of the Jedi

The big man crushing the Ruff traverse with spanish tick marks.

Big dog Kennedy graced us with his presence in Yorkshire and was keen to get out and sample some of the esoterica i've been blogging about. It was pretty pants weather and Ali was hungover after the 2 beers the previous night so we decided on somewhere local. The might Norwood edge and Hunter Stones were the destination, the main focus being the X block at Hunter's.

The X block hold
Carving on X block . W block doesn't have the same appeal

Arriving we headed up to Falcon area, my aim to dispatch Falcon once and for all and show how great this new found grit is to the big man. Ali pulled on Falcon - crushed it and then watched me floundering to reach the good hold. He then set to work on the 6c of Ruff  traverse and spent a long time working it. He eventually worked it out and sent it and as he was topping out I pulled on and crushed Falcon (7a) once and for all. I tried to recreate it for a video straight after but hadn't rested between goes so floundered.

We then headed over to Hunter's stone after wiping the shameful tick marks off the Falcon (see video).

A long trek through the woods and we found it but it was sopping and more importantly looked absolutely nails. Most of the stuff is in the 8's and looked very very hard.

Ali realising sport 8b and Font 8ba re different things

I don't think i'll be coming back any time soon, even for the 7a arete (especially as it looks very very hard).

Tricky 7a arete, 6c from standing looks hard enough

Walking back to find easier problems it started to rain so we bid farewell to the crag and headed back for curry and beer.

 Bye bye Stainburn Forest!
